WINTER
Skiing and Snowboarding:

The Paradiski area (Les ArcsPeisey Vallandry and La Plagne) has 425 km. of pistes comprised of: 37 black, 65 red, 129 blue, 11 green so there is plenty of opportunities for beginners and experts alike.

Peisey-Vallandry offers a reduced price lift for beginners on a quiet but extremely wide and gentle blue. Also, for those who like tree runs, Peisey-Vallandry offers some of the best in Europe. Also on offer is the Apocalypse snowpark at Arc1600 which is always maintained to a high standard; snowparks in Plagne Bellecote and Les Coches; 5 boardercross runs and the half pipe at Plagne Bellecote.

When conditions allow it is possible to return to the hostel off-piste from either Les Arcs or La Plagne: ND Vernettes; Col d'Entreporte; Petite Face Nord du Bellecote and Les Bauches.

Piste Map

Resort transport:

Access to the resort is via a free bus that leaves every half an hour and is less than a minutes stroll from the hostel. The journey takes about 5 minutes. The first bus goes straight to the Vanoise Express and the Peisey-Vallandry area. It arrives before the lifts open. For the rest of the day the buses go to Peisey village to link with the "Lonzagne" bucket lift, known locally as the "Lobster Pots". A large new car park opposite the bus stop allows easy parking for those who wish to drive. The road clearing is excellent but it is still a legal requirement to have chains. These can be bought in a supermarket.

Other activities:

A very short bus journey takes you to the "Site Nordique de Peisey-Vallandry". Here there is 40 km. of cross country pistes, snowshoe hire, rides in sledges pulled by horses or dogs and ice climbing. The Paradiski area has a total of 153 km. of cross country (ski de fond) pistes.

SUMMER:
Mountain biking:

For MTB (VTT) the area has a superb variety of tracks and trails for riders of all abilities from sign posted resort tracks and the well maintained "Avalanche" DownHill track at Arc1600 to an extensive network of technical singletrack trails.

Our own riding experience has given us an extensive knowledge of the trails of Les Arcs, La Plagne and the surrounding valleys. Advice on trails, including GPS information, is available.

The lift system is open during July and August giving access for bikes to Les Arcs and La Plagne. Getting from the hostel to the lifts is simple with a variety of routes to choose from. Trails back from both of the resorts pass through Nancroix and it is easy to end the day at the front door (even if you've been to the bar).

Out of season it is possible to hire an uplift: Coolbus

There are also many other rides to do if you are prepared to do a bit of pedalling.

Walking:

Being virtually on the border of the Vanoise National Park, and on the path of the GR5 (Geneva to the Mediterranean), the hostel has superb access to the pathways linking the resorts of the Massif.

There is also the possibility of climbing Mont Pourri (3779 m.)

Via Ferrata:

Les Bettières is a very short distance up the valley and offers easy access to a 3 stage route. Other routes are to be found at Val d'Isère, Pralognan, Maurienne and the Roc du Vent at Lac Roselend.

Go-Ape (Parcors d'aventure):

3 swinging through the trees areas are very close to the hostel and are a good for a break and a laugh. The closest is at Les Lanches (10 minutes walk).

White water rafting:

Superb rafting and kayak slalom on the Isére river between Bourg-St-Maurice and Moûtiers.
Access to the river at Landry is 10 minutes drive from the hostel where there is a superb centre for all rafting type activities: Centre H2o rafting Alpes plus the renowned kayaking course and practice area at Bourg-St-Maurice.
